FAN EXPO CHICAGO REVIEW

Another show is in the books as we return from Fan Expo Chicago, one of the two major comic conventions in the city, the other being the well-known C2E2.

This year's Fan Expo was a bit of a letdown. The show, which was traditionally held over four days, was cut down to three this year. Initially, I was a big fan of this change—it seemed like a great idea in theory. But much like socialism, it turned out to be better in theory than in practice. The shorter schedule made the event feel rushed and less immersive than in previous years.

One of the most noticeable shifts this year was the crowd's focus. It seemed that attendees were more interested in the celebrities than the vintage comics, which can be a drawback at some of the bigger shows. While it's always great to see fans excited, the decreased attention on the comics made the event feel less balanced.

On the bright side, Fan Expo is held on the North Side of the city, which offers a wider variety of restaurant options compared to C2E2. This location advantage made it easier to grab a good meal after a long day at the show.

All in all, while Fan Expo Chicago had its ups and downs this year, it remains a significant event on the comic convention circuit. Here's hoping for a better experience next time around.
