MAJOR PICTO SPOTLIGHT: HAWKMAN #1
We talk all the time about how Silver Age DC comics are extremely underrated, and I don’t think there is a bigger example of that than Hawkman #1. This issue marks the first time Hawkman was given his own title, having often appeared in Flash Comics during the Golden Age.
Hawkman #1 hit the newsstands in February 1964, featuring a cool cover by Murphy Anderson and his art inside the book as well. Just the month before, Marvel had introduced a new hero—Daredevil. If you look at the sales records of both Daredevil #1 and Hawkman #1, there is no comparison.
This Hawkman #1 in VG+ condition is currently priced at around $195, whereas you couldn’t find a coverless copy of Daredevil #1 for less than a few hundred dollars. This is a long-winded way of saying: buy Hawkman #1 and hold out until Netflix makes a series!
