HALLOWEEN MOVIE REVIEW: THE LOST BOYS!

We have a few reviews to get through today so we are going to start with The Lost Boys, and we will continue the reviews through the weekend. I think the first weekend in November should count as an Honoraray Halloween weekend! So we will add a few more movies to the reviews but for today we have some classics. To start we’re diving into a cult classic from the 80s—The Lost Boys (1987), directed by Joel Schumacher. With its blend of horror, comedy, and a killer soundtrack, this movie brought a fresh, edgy spin to the vampire genre. The Lost Boys became a pop culture phenomenon. This movie screams 80s, whether its the names of characters to the way they are dressed or the shirtless Saxophone player. Now to the review:

Rankings:

Monsters/Villains: 🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖 (8.5)
The gang of teenage vampires, led by the charismatic David (Kiefer Sutherland), is as iconic as it gets. These vampires aren’t your typical, old-school creatures of the night—they’re rebellious, dangerous, and unpredictable. David’s gang exudes an eerie coolness that hides just how terrifying they are. They’re a mix of rock 'n' roll and horror, and it’s impossible to look away when they’re on screen. And they aren’t even the scariest Vampires in the movie!

Actors/Characters: 🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖 (7.9)
Kiefer Sutherland steals the show as David, making him one of the most memorable vampire characters of the 80s. Jason Patric and Corey Haim have great chemistry as brothers Michael and Sam, navigating their way through the dangers of a vampire-infested town. The Coreys (Haim and Feldman) are a great duo, with Feldman bringing a lot of humor to his role as Edgar Frog, the self-proclaimed vampire hunter. Diane Wiest as the concerned mother and Edward Herrmann as the mysterious Max also add depth to the supporting cast. And it would be a disservice to not mention the unforgettable Barnard Hughes as Grandpa!

Story: 🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖 (7.5)
The story takes a creative spin on vampire lore by setting it in a beach town that feels strangely timeless. Moving to a new town and discovering that it’s overrun by vampires is a great setup, especially as Michael gets slowly drawn into David’s gang. Sam’s discovery of the truth and his mission to save his brother keeps the stakes high and the pace engaging. It’s a classic story of good vs. evil, with a youthful twist that makes it feel both relatable and thrilling.

Joe's Score: 🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖 (8.0)
This movie has it all: horror, comedy, and even a comic book store! The Lost Boys isn’t the scariest film out there, but it’s one of the most entertaining. The blend of humor and horror, coupled with memorable characters, makes it a must-watch every Halloween season. And Remeber People are strange when you’re a stranger!
