SPOTLIGHT: HERO FOR HIRE #1

In 1971, following the success of the movie Shaft, Marvel Comics recognized the need to add another African-American superhero to their lineup. However, this new hero had to be tough enough to carry his own title. Thus, Luke Cage, Hero for Hire, was born.

With the creative genius of Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Archie Goodwin, and John Romita, Marvel introduced one of its coolest heroes from the 1970s. The series ran for 49 issues before changing its title to Power Man & Iron Fist, continuing for another 75 issues.

Today's spotlight book is not just a regular Hero for Hire #1. This copy is signed by co-creator John Romita on the first page.
